Future days – maintaining food quality
We are very happy to be part of the “Future Days – Maintaining Food Quality” for the first time this year, which is being organized as a cooperative event by the Fraunhofer IVV and the IVLV – Industrial Association for Food Technology and Packaging. From May 7-8, 2025, a high-ranking specialist audience from the fields of food, packaging and mechanical engineering, but also from research, will meet in Freising. Dr. Christian Bäuml from relyon plasma will talk about “MediPlas – an efficient plasma generator for sterilization and disinfection” at this event. He will show the advantages of using MediPlas in the food industry.
MediPlas in the food industry
The MediPlas system consists of two components: the MediPlas Reactor and the MediPlas Driver. The reactor is the heart of the system, which generates reactive oxygen and nitrogen species (RONS) using dielectric barrier discharge (DBD). This mixture of substances offers a wide range of possible applications in the food industry.
Field of applications
- Treatment of food against unwanted microorganisms
- Treatment of seeds for improved germination
- Decontamination of packaging, especially in the food and medical sectors
During the Future Days, current and completed research projects and new developments/findings on the topics of food quality and food safety will be presented. The agenda of the Future Days – Maintaining Food Quality can be downloaded here.
